Adobe Acrobat PDF Accessibility

Welcome! This is a self-paced, just-in-time guide for making PDF content in Adobe Acrobat accessible to everyone, including persons with disabilities. PDF accessibility issues tend to be more difficult to correct. As such, if it is possible to make the information available in a web or other format that is easy to make accessible, we would recommend it. When you must make a PDF, we strongly recommended that you make an accessible Microsoft or accessible InDesign file that is then saved as PDF. Correctly saving these files as PDFs will transfer many of the accessibility features, but it will be necessary to double-check your PDF's accessibility before it is published or shared.

Getting Started

Before we begin, be sure to have a Canvas Compatible web browser (Chrome, Firefox, etc.) and a basic understanding of the Canvas interface (see Meet Canvas for orientation resources). Also, be sure that you have a copy of Adobe Acrobat (Creative Cloud version).
